Delete Plan (Master Planning)

Hi,

Is there any difference between the two delete plan buttons in Master Planning?

It seems that the system is giving me a different plan (with same SO), when the plan is deleted then re-planned.

Planned-Order-Delete.jpg         vs            Common-Delete.jpg

I am testing use of plan group and substitute/priority, and i normally used the Delete (Planned Order).

When i clicked Delete Plan (in Master Planning --> Periodic --> Delete Plan), system seems to make a different calculation and use of substitute is ignored.

The question might be basic, but would appreciate if someone could explain further if there is a difference between these two.

Thank you!

Under periodic it delete the entire current selected plan with all levels, action and futures. The other one just delete the one requirement. Maybe some remnants of other orders affect this.

The way I understand it, Delete will delete the selected planned order records from the master plan. Delete plan will delete every record from the master schedule that was run. I run Delete plan in batch prior to a full regeneration of a new plan.

    Hi Kelly/Fredrick,

I'm a bit puzzled because my items seem to behave differently when i use delete plan.

I tried creating a new item with a new set of raw materials to ensure that there is no past or existing transaction attached to the items.

When i ran the plan, it behaves according to how i was expecting it to plan (i'm testing plan group and priority).

I tried to "delete" it and re-run, and it still gives me the same set of plans. However, when i "delete plan", the system seems to ignore all existing inventory (even priority 1 item). It generates a purchased order though i have existing  priority 1 and 2 items in the same warehouse as the consumption warehouse.

Are there any other fields that i should look into?

    Thank you!

Can you show me a screenshot of the priority setup?

    Hi Fredrick,

I have set up my formula lines as below:

    3060.plan-group-and-priority.jpg

Then, I have on-hand inventory for both items inside both main and consumption warehouse.

It has been behaving previously (using priority and substitute) using the above set-up, but something seems to change when i "Delete Plan".

Is there anything i missed out?

When you run from Master planning > Periodic > Plans > Delete plan then this will  delete the current scheduling results of the selected plan. Only the requirements and planned orders are deleted. The plan and the configuration of the plan are not deleted.
