Extracting Attachment Files from Microsoft GP

Posted on by 20

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to come up with a way to extract attached files on different clients in Microsoft GP.

I received a request from our sales team to access attachments files from (Year) 2017 clients.

These list of clients are upwards of 500 and I need to do a bulk extraction. I do not have the option of

doing an individual extraction by client. If anyone has a solutions that works for BULK EXTRACTION of attachments please let me know.

Thank you!

    Hi Emmanuel,

The link Lucas provided is the only tool I'm aware that allows to perform what you're looking for. If you don't want to use the .NET approach, you can always try the SQL BCP (bulk copy) option:

There is another link in the above post that use the OLEDB approach from within SQL SSMS.

    Good luck.

    Hello Emanual,

Since you tagged Dynamics GP 2016 I'm assuming that you're referring to Document Attachment instead of OLE Notes when you mention notes.

While there isn't an option to extract a batch of attachments built into Dynamics GP, we are fortunate to be in a very active community of users.  While I haven't personally used it, I am aware of the following post from an MVP that you could look into for your needs:

    dynamicsgpland.blogspot.com/.../extract-and-save-dynamics-gp-document.html

Perhaps someone in the community can vouch for how they've used this code in their own environments or perhaps weigh in with other options as well.
