How to edit email address for user when set up via AD import?

We set up our AX users by importing the details from Active Directory.  However then when our users change their names and their email addresses are changed, we are left with an old email address in AX that will be used for any alerts and notifications.

Apparently we cannot change the email address on a User (we get a SID error?) without deleting the User and creating a new one.  This is not advisable as we lose all previous history and leave accruals etc are lost that was associated with that user record.

Is there a way to update Users with any changes made to their AD profile on a regular basis?  Using AX2012 R3.

thanks

yes that is the error we get when changing the email address.  It will not let us close the form unless we do NOT save the changes.

    Hi AXfinance,

Emails and alerts are sent to the email address from user options that could be changed any time.  There is no automated function to sync them with AD, as far as I know, however, you can develop your own periodic operation to do this.
