Debugging Managed Code in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU8

Hello together,

i have the following problem. I tried to debug managed code with the help of Visual Studio 2013. But my breakpoints are not getting hit.

The following preparations had been done server side:

1) Installation of remotetools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Update 4 on Application Object Server

2) Started Remote Debugger as Administrator on Application Object Server

3) Checked AX Server Configuration

 -> Breakpoints enabled

 -> Global breakpoints enabled

The following preparations had been done on my Client:

1) Client Configuration set to current AOS

-> Breakpoints enabled

-> Global breakpoints enabled

2) Business connector set to current AOS

-> Breakpoints enabled

-> Global breakpoints enabled

3) Full CIL Compile

4) executeBusinessOperationsInCLRSession = true

5) Start Visual Studio 2013

 - Navigate to my class which will be executed

 - Set breakpoint (F9) -> Red Point is shown

 - Debug -> Attach to process -> Choose AX32Serv.exe on Server

 - Confirm Security warning with "Attach"

- Breakpoint changes from Red Point to Red Point (White filled, with warning. Warning: Breakpoint will not be reached. No Symbols are loaded for this document)

Maybe anybody is able to help me. Thank you very much.

    What kind of assembly are you debugging? Is it X++ code compiled to CIL, VS project added to AOT and deployed to AOS, a separate library referenced by AOS or what?

    FYI: Within a second try and the support of a collegue I tried to debug with Visual Studio 2010 (as i did in earlier Versions,too). This way is still working!

    Has anybody successfully debugged X++ Code transferred to CIL with VS 2013?

    Did you uninstall old Visual Studio Tools before installing new ones with CU8?

    It was working for me before and it doesn't seems like you are missing anything. The warning on the breakpoint should not matter. It's important to use the remote debugger of VS 2013 (the old one did not work). Maybe try starting VS as admin? And iirc there was something about the Hot Swapping Option. Try disabling it, if it's enabled and vise versa.

    Starting VS as an admin. I forgot that sometimes as well in past aarrrggghhh :-)
