Old batch approval reminders appearing after upgrading to GP 2018

Our client recently upgraded to GP 2018 from GP 2015. Some users are noticing reminders / tasks appearing for old batches which had already been approved. Below is a sample of the reminder being generated for a user.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior with the batch approval process after upgrading GP?

You have been assigned a task for the Approve Batch step in the GL Batch Approval workflow for GL Batch .
