UDE Instance Package Deployment

Hi Everyone,

We have an F&O Instance managed by the Power Platform Admin Centre.

When The Environment was created, we had configured it to pre-deploy the Finance app.

So the F&O can not be directly connected to the Visual Studio for the Package Deployment because we have not been able to select the Enable Developer Tools for Finance and Operations.

Does anyone have an idea how to add a package to such an instance?

We do not have any DevOps configured now, and we have a custom package that can be built and modified on the on-prem F&O (VHD Managed by US).

Thanks, Everyone in Advanced.

Regards,
Nisarg Jani

    Hi
    two ways
    1) move your objects from anywhere to UDE (Visual Studio) . Your Visual Studio must be connected to the unified environment. Build the objects/code. then use option, "Deploy Models to online environments"

You can also use an option during the build (Deploy to connected online environment

    2) your second choice is setup your DevOps ALM

Could you explain what you mean when you say you are unable to enable developer tools, do you mean in the Power Platform environment, or locally in Visual Studio? What steps are you taking and what error or message do you get?

    Thanks
    Anthony

    HI Nisarg,

You can use a script to deploy the package to an online environment. Aurelien Clere has a blog where he wrote the next steps

This deploy command doesn’t make any changes to the finance and operations environment hosted in Lifecycle Services, nor does it require any downtime to apply this package on either the operations environment or the Dataverse environment. This is done to upload and save the customizations into Dataverse storage so that they can be copied.

    1 Install PAC CLI
2 Authenticate and connect to source Dataverse
    3 Run the following:

    pac auth list
    pac auth select --index 1
pac package deploy --logConsole --package <OutputPath><Package>.dll

Hi All Thanks for the Reply.

I have tried to deploy the package first convert LCS Deployable package it to the TemplatePackage.dll, I am getting following error:

I have created Environment  from PPAC, when setup I have selected to Automatically deploy the Finance(Preview) app for the Environment.

For the Environment  this skipped the step where to select the the Enable Developer Tools for Finance and Operations. So VS can not be connected to the Environment .

The Instance was not able to download the Assets for the Development because It is not the UDE Instance.

So the VS is not able to develop and configure metadata/ deploy models.
