Primary sales posting

In AX under AR>Setup>Parameters, Tab "Ledger and Sales Tax".

You have a group field "Posting" and three E-num fields:

  1. Primary Sales Posting
  2. Primary consumption transaction
  3. Primary discount posting

For each of this E-num you have as choice:

  • Customer
  • Item

What does this parameter suppose to do?

Thx. Jemm

These parameters set up the priority for dimension merging.

According to the help: Select priorities for posting to item and customer dimensions.

    Thanks Floris.

I read it also in the help but what does it exactly means? Have you an example? Are you sure that it doesn't also have a role with sales posting? See also following post founded on internet dynamicsuser.net/.../36667.aspx.

    Example (abstract):

    Item dimensions = [-,1,-] (- = absent)

    cust dimensions = [4,5,6]

What dimension will your final dimension get?

    Will it be [4,1,6] ?

    Will it be [4,5,6] ?

Does your item dimension get priority, or does your customer? There is no way of knowing without a general rule. This rule depends on your setting.

You can think of dimension mergin as follows:

initial dimension = Take primary dimension (either from item or customer)

    for each dimensional value

    -

if it is empty, take the value from the secondary dimension.
