Sales and Cost Price List - How to do Costing based on Bookable Resource and not based on Roles in a Price List?

Hello,

I have Dynamics 365 subscription and I am using PSA Module.

My Company has resources and we do costing based on our Bookable Resource (Human Resource) and not based on Roles (Generic Roles), how can i manage this in PSA as I can define my Cost Price List or Sales Price List either on Roles or Categories in a Project?

Thank you,

Sumayya

Thank you Antti Pajunen, for taking time to respond to my post.

My company is a project management company, and we provide advisory support to Government on Infrastructure and Land development projects. The process starts from a lead, then opportunity and then we write a proposal, which is a tender response. The proposal is basically my quote. In my business, drafting a quote (proposal) can be a single level process or two level process - depending on the type of tender. If it is a public tender then it is a two level response, and if it is by invitation then it is a single level response. The response is written in word document, but quote figures are required to include in the response document.

After the quote is approved by the customer, then we start contracting and finally the project, and the sales cycle ends.

At times, I want to create a WBS in a project, so that I can pull this from project to my quote line detail and prepare a quote. I want to change the price of my resources as well, in the quote. At the moment, i cannot do this, because of the bug.

    Hope this clarifies the process.

    Thank you,

    Sumayya

Thank you Antti Pajunen, for your response.

I did a little bit of research and with online education, i came to know that i can change the price of my bookable resource in the Quote section of a Project. I wanted to have a unique price for my bookable resource, in a unique quote; and this could solve my problem.

But unfortunately, there is a product bug in my dynamics instance (version 8.2) and i cannot create a Quote. This is very strange, I know, but I have been in contact with Microsoft and apparently there isn't any resolution or RCA for this - that why this is happening. My ticket has been archived for the time being. The only way forward for me, is to wait for the product upgrade version to 9.0 in March 2018 and see what happens. I am on 8.2 version of Dynamics 365, currently.

For this reason, my organisation is not using dynamics 365, and we are looking for other Project Management Software.

Below is the product bug detail.

Sounds good I will try this.

But my organisation use different resource cost price and resource sales price for individual Project, is there any possibility that I define Resource Cost Price and Sales Price directly in WBS in Project?

    Thankyou.

I'm not sure if its possible to assign the costing directly to a resource oob. But what you could do as a work around is by adding an individual Role to each of your resources. So for example you could have a person called 'Joe Bloggs' which has a role of Joe Bloggs which is only specific cost to that resource.
