I just upgraded a client to GP 18.2.  When we start the service, it does not start.  I see this error in the Event log:

I fixed this by searching for 18.2.0.0 in any .config file in the web service installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GPWebServices) and replacing it with 18.0.0.0

In my case, the 2 files that needed modified were:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GPWebServices\Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.WebServices.ServiceHost.exe.config"

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GPWebServices\ServiceConfigs\GPWorkflowService.config"

    Thanks Japeth, that worked.

    Perry,

This has also been addressed in a patch for GP Web Services that you can download from Customer/PartnerSource  The catch is that the .MSP can only be slip-streamed into a new Web Services install.  The following article explains how that process works:

    community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-slip-stream-msp-files-for-service-packs-and-hotfixes-when-installing-microsoft-dynamics-gp

While changing the .config file might work, it isn't something we'd recommend for production environment since it isn't something that we're going to test for potential issues.
