Upgrade to July 2017 release from 1611 with overlayered code

Hi,

can we still upgrade to the latest July 2017 platform & platform update when we have an environment which is based on release 1611 with platform update 5 and has tons of overlayered 3rd party code? According to the upgrade page (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/migration-upgrade/upgrade-latest-update) we have to use the code upgrade service on LCS. Will the upgrade service deal with the overlayered code accordingly? Or does the overlayering prevent the upgrade? Should we expect a lot of trouble due to overlayered code?

LCS will upgrade the overlayered code even if it's there in platform models, but at the time of build after mapping the upgraded code base in a VM we will get lot of errors (like Application platform is hard sealed). To make the code error free we should remove overlayering from platform & foundation models if there is any and refactor the code using extensions.

During upgrade if you have an extension model (in a new package), it will be deleted during LCS automated checkin. So make sure you add it back to the source control.

Edit: We missed adding descriptor to source control so our model was deleted during upgrade process.
