Hi,

I would like to know how to make the role for receiving by category or users. For example, all the machines must be received by only the warehouse and the CCTV by IT. Please advice

If  'machine' and 'CCTV' are inventory categories and warehouse and IT are users /sites and you want that  when doing PO receiving if site/user is not related to inventory category it wouldn't allow receiving (Post,Auto-Rcv).

If this is something you want then it can be done by customization.

    Hi Refeesh,

Thank you for using Microsoft Forums.

In your example, I am assuming that 'machine' and 'CCTV' are inventory categories.  I would assume then that warehouse and IT are users maybe or are these the sites.  I am not sure if you are asking how to setup a task/role for a user to have access to the receiving transaction entry window or to receive items based on item categories or users.

A receiving transaction can be auto received by a PO if a PO has been created.   If a PO has not been entered, then you can just enter in the information directly into the transaction.  There is no option to select items based on an item category assigned.  Also, security roles and tasks don't get that granular to where you assign specific item category or user to a specific item.

Now if you are just looking for how to assign a user to the receiving transaction entry window, you would need to give them this access in a task and then assign that task to the role the user has.  By default, task ID TRX_PURCH_004* already has access to this window.  This task is also already assigned to a few default roles.  Now, I do not know how you have your security setup or if you have custom tasks/roles or using straight default ones but the user needs to have these rights.

I hope this answers your question. If not, can you please provide more information on the specific setup/functionality you are looking for.

    Thank you,

    Janelle
