MenuDisplay with image

Hi,

Anyone can point me sample of menu with image (icon) in it ? Where actually we put the image information? in the Menu Item display or in the form control ?

Because both I saw has this property and what is the different using either one ?

If lets say I want to have my own icon, I can just Add -> New Resource then upload my image file (.png), put a name. Then I can just specify this name on the property that I asking above, right ?

Kindly advice,

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi ShaqAX,

Are you talking about the “Normal Image” property?

    docs.microsoft.com/.../action-controls

    Hi Blue,

Yes, it is. In that reference, it is mentioned for button image, we have to use "Symbol" ? but still we're allow to use our own image or not ? What about AOT resource option ?

Currently, I'm doing something like this :

    pastedimage1609919292052v1.png

Then in its property set like this :

    pastedimage1609919334706v2.png

The "PowerBILogo" is the resource name I just create which is the PNG file. And I also put the menu item display that I create before, so when user click this button, will show Power BI report embed.

I just want to know whether this is the correct way to do it.

    Thanks

    Hi ShaqAX,

Are you able to see the image on the button fine after setting these properties?

If this menu item is going to be used in multiple forms and will have the same logo, it's a better idea to update the image properties at the menu item level. If it is going to have different images for different forms, what you have done should work fine.

    RE: MenuDisplay with image

    Hi Blue,

I think the reference you just put is for AX2012, is it not ?

But yeah I guess I'd like the rule specified by Gunjan, which is when the button will be use anywhere, then better to specify the Image in menu item property.

Just one thing to make sure, do we still need to specify the ButtonDisplay : TextwithImageLeft in the form ? since this  is formMenuFunctionButtonControl property, and it is not in Menu Item property.

Actually right now the image still not showing. But I'm still checking is there any setup I missed.

    Thanks

    Hi ShaqAX,

The image positioning and image size might vary from form to form. So, you should specify that on the form control itself.

    RE: MenuDisplay with image

    Hi Gunjan,

The icon is not appear also even the label on top of the "supposed to be" the menu button. So it is just blank area in my Action Pane, but when I hover my mouse, there is the tooltips precisely as the label that I specified in the menu item display.

So this is my setting in FormControl:

    pastedimage1609994470569v1.png

And this is on the menuitem display:

    pastedimage1609994529489v2.png

In the preview area of the form in Visual Studio,. the label of the menu item is actually displayed only without any icon. but after deploy it turns out not even any label.. blank space but I hover mouse display the label.and  I can click

    Thanks

    Hi Gunjan,

Solved it. It turns out the Image Location should still use "Symbol", even when the NormalImage name is from AOTResource name.

The rest is the same as I depicted.

    Thanks
