Why "the sign on Quantity and Net amount have to be the same"

Hallo,

I would like to have discount items in a sales order, with positive quantity and negative unit price.

For me negative quantities should be used justo for the returns.

However in AX2012 is not possible to enter negative price and positive qty due to the error ""the sign on Quantity and Net amount have to be the same"". I don't see the reason of this control.

Does anybody know the reasons of this control? 

Is it dangerous if we remove this control?
