Closing a RP if consumption has been loaded and cancelled, Ledger entry exists

Hi All,

What is the best way to remove a RP if a user has allocated consumption and then reversed it because the order is not going ahead. You can't finish the order because it says output not done. Also, can't make the order qty zero, cause then you get a division by zero error. Seems a waste to have to output and then do an item journal to reverse it??

Any advice?  I cannot just leave the RP open, since in this because it is linked to a sales header and have multiple lines associated to the Released production order.

Regards
Debbie

I'd use the production journal to enter negative consumption lines to reverse the allocated consumption. This will bring the components back into inventory.

My issue is not reversing the consumption, its to ultimately clear the Released production order so that It doesn't stay open on the screen. As I mentioned, the order is linked to multiple sales lines, and sometimes one item does net get produced but they accidentally posted a consumption. It does not allow me to delete the line if there is a ledger entry associated to it,

BC doesn't allow user deleting a released production order with posted item ledger entry. User could reverse the incorrect entries by post negative qty to bring items back to inventory. If you need to get rid of the release production order, just post output qty as zero and change the order to close status.

There is only one way to resolve this, and this is to post output from the production order, typically with a quantity of 1. This step is required because you can only change the status of a production order to 'Finished' after posting some output, if consumption has been posted. Once the status is set to 'Finished,' you can use the item journal to make a negative adjustment for the output quantity, applying the adjustment directly to the output ledger entry.

You can make the negative adjustment for the consumption either in the production order prior to changing its status to finished, or in the item journal.

If you post output quantity of 0, you won't be allowed to change the status of the prod. order to finished.
