Budget Register Entry-update for budget control

(0) ShareShare

I have imported budget register entry for my client and updated the budget balances with the same. Subsequently when I activate the budget control it is not taking the budget values uploaded before, but if I create new values it is being considered for budget control. Am I missing something here or it is a bug in the system

    Hello Sraj,

Can you check what has been setup in the budget control form - assign budget models section? The budget cycle and budget model need to be defined there. Can you double check whether the budget data that you uploaded belong to on the of lines setup in this section of the budget control configuration window?

I am aware of budget functionality, issue comes when we upload budget data through excel add-in.

    Hello Sraj,

I used the Excel add-in several times for uploading budgets in AX2012 R2 and R3 systems and never run into a similar problem. Probably have a look at the following site that has a detailed description of the things you need to consider when using the Excel add-in: www.dynamics101.com/.../budget-register-entry-upload-excel-add-in-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax

    Hope it helps,

    Ludwig

Is it a bug or is it part of standard functionality that budget update needs to happen with budget control activated for budget balances to be taken into budget control.

Do we need to contact microsoft for this.

Was an issue for this ever logged with Microsoft?  I am not seeing a ticket in LCS regarding this problem.

I appear to be running into the same issue, except budget register entries were manually created and updated before activating budget control.

I know this response is late but for anyone encountering this in the future, it is by design that the control must be turned on and activated for the budget register entries to apply to the budget.

On the budget register entry TechNet site that there is an important flag that specifies “If you are using budget control, configure budget control before you create budget register entries”  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh227354.aspx

For your reference, if you have the budget control turned ON and then OFF, whilst turning it OFF – a warning is showed that specifies “… If budget control is turned on later, budget balances must be adjusted manually. Do you want to continue?”
