Paid Time Off Based On Hours Worked

Posted on by 5

For our organization, PTO is accrued based on hours worked for full time employees.

The page Information about HR Accrual Types in Microsoft Dynamics GP says HOUR/YR accrual type should only be used for part time employees, so I started investigating what PTO Manager is capable of.

The documentation on PTO Manager (Range Based On: Hours Worked/Pay Period) looks like it is what we need, but it only gives an example for a part time employee. Will PTO Manager be able to calculate hours accrued for salaried and other full time employees based on the number of hours worked?

Also, since we'd like to avoid the cost of the Extended HR and Payroll pack, is it truly not possible to use the Starter pack HOUR/YR accrual type for full time employees?

Thank you

Yes it doesn't say part time. It does say typically for hourly employees, and typically not for salaried employees.

Is there a way to use the HOUR/YR accrual for all employees, including salaried employees?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

Below are some great resources that explain the features in more detail.

    Payroll Vacation and Sick: community.dynamics.com/.../payroll-vacation-and-sick-time-accruals-in-dynamics-gp

    PTO Manager:  https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/posts/understanding-how-pto-manager-works-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp

Human Resources Attendance: Click on Human Resources  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/dynamics-gp/appuser-itpro/hh686204(v=gp.20)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

HR Attendance Accruals can be used for all employment types, FT, PT etc. In the page reference you gave, I do not see where it says it should be used only for parttime employees accruals  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057511/information-about-hr-accruals-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp.

    I hope this helps,
