what is the error account? and when does AX use it?

Dear 

we have an error account setup , and there are some transactions that are hitting this account, but they seems like normal transactions 

what is the error account? and when does AX use it?

    Error account is used when Dynamics cannot find where to post a transaction (a missing posting profile etc.) - it will then rather than error out and abort the posting just post into 999999

    Generally it is not a great idea to use error account at all.

    the only value of it I can see is if you have a system with a large volume of automated transactions (let's say coming from an interface) you prefer few of them going into error account and researching them later, rather than stopping the whole thing.

    Vast majority of users making this decision end up preferring for AX just to error out, rather than make rogue posting into "error account"
