DataImport Export/Definition group

Hi All,

I have a requirement to Create new data import definition group called “Test” to the “Administration/Periodic/ Data ImportExport/Definition group.  Will also need to create import excel spreadsheet that we will use to enter data into to do the import of records to create the AP Voucher Invoice JE records.Please guide me step by step to achieve this.

    Hi Michael,

    These are two different requirements, data importExport definiton groups are to move data across different environments of Dynamics AX. Here is more details technet.microsoft.com/.../aa834357.aspx

    However, for AP voucher invoice JE import from excel you can use office add-ins. If you can get data into CSV format you can even use data import export framework which is really handy.

    DIXF is not available for version 4.0 and that is why he is talking about Definition groups. In an AX 4 definition group if I remember this right you could choose if you want binary, or other format, but my memory might be failing me :)

    If your goal is to import data from Excel, there are some classes in the AOT which already support this through a COM object directly from Excel, you may search for that on the internet. But the easiest way is to save it as a comma-separated file (CSV), and write a job to import the data.
