Restore custom smart list on new GP version 1013

Posted on by 50

Hello Team,

I want to make a copy of the live Gp (18.2.1100) which was installed on the Datacenter because the data center version is going to shut down. For that, I have installed the GP version(18.2.1013) which was available for me. I have restored All companies which there in the data center. Firstly, I have created a new Company in a new GP with the same database name as the live one and restored it with a sql backup file of Datacenter versions. After successfully restored, it copies all company's data and views, stored procedures, and tables.

My question was How would I restore the smart list which was present in the Datacenter version?

I created a new sample smart list in my local system GP(18.2.1013) and export it and try importing it into the new GP(18.2.1013) environment. It was successfully imported that smart list on New GP(18.2.1013).

So, I took the live smart list(by export) GP (18.2.1100) and tried to import it into the new GP(18.2.1013). Only the processing window came. That smart list is not processed nor present in the list of smart lists.

Any help would be great. I have attached two smart lists.

Want to load all smart list on live site mention below.

you can find the download link for previous service packs on this page:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../mdgp2018_patchreleases_377

click on the link "Previous Patch Releases" which gives you a PDF file with embedded links to all recent previous builds of GP

Can you share with me GP(18.2.1100) software files on the drive bhapkarsatyajit8331@gmail.com.

I have GP(18.2.1013) software. I tried to search on the internet but that GP(18.2.1100) software is not easily available. Please share it on the drive. That would be a great help.

    Hi,

What was your SQL version on which your GP 18.2.1100 was running ? why not restore the backups on a new SQL server with the same version or higher and just restore your backups, then re-install the same version of GP (or higher, but you need to run the upgrade first) ?

This is not a good idea to "downgrade" your GP version.. it's not even a supported scenario and I don't really see the point here..

My first question is going from 18.2.1100 to 18.2.1013, as that didn't make sense to me.

If you're trying to move Dynamics GP from one server to another, why not just take backups of all the GP system and company databases, migrate them to a new SQL instance per KB 878449 if needed, and then install GP 18.2.1100 on the new server, that the GP databases are at?

By doing that, all SmartLists would still exist as they're held in the GP system database.

However, in your incentive-live.xml, I see Product 3830 mentioned, which is SmartList Builder.

SmartList Builder at 18.2 (any version after GP 2013 R2) is owned by eOne. If you don't have SmartList Builder installed for GP on the GP instance you're moving to, and these custom SmartLists were created in SmartList Builder, you won't see them in GP until you get SmartList Builder installed on the GP instance you're migrating to.

So, I'd start with verifying that..........

    Thanks
