Power Platform environment restoration vs. segment database

Hi Community!

While browsing through information about creating segments, I came across information about a separate database that is used for this. Such a database and the entire segmentation engine would be hosted as a "hidden" Azure service to which we do not have access (which is obvious, because it is SAAS). My question is about restoring the database to a state from a few days ago - If I want to roll back the Power Platform environment to a state from, say, 2 days ago, will the data in this separate database also be rolled back to a state from 2 days ago?

E.g. I would have a case looking like this:

  1. 02.07 9:00 - Customer X registers via Landing Page to receive newsletter
  2. 02.07 11:00 - Customer X receives the first message from the newsletter
  3. 02.07 12:00 - Customer X opens the first message from the newsletter

That is, at the end of 02.07 we have a new customer and several of his interactions recorded. On 03.07, in turn, we would like to restore the database to the state of 01.07. Here the question arises - will the separate interaction database also be restored to the state of 01.07, or will it remain in the state of 03.07?

The scenario is purely hypothetical, it was created at one of the workshops. Unfortunately, I could not find an answer to it anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help :

RE: Power Platform environment restoration vs. segment database

    Hey Maciej!

on docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-marketing-environments you have a nice response::

"After any copy or restore operation, you must run the setup wizard on the target environment. This will create a new set of Marketing services (including a new marketing-insights service) and link them to the target environment. If you don't run the wizard, all features that require services (such as insights and email sending) won't work, and you'll still see information about images in the files library for which the source files aren't available.

Because a new set of Marketing services is created on the target environment, interaction data from your source environment (such as email clicks or website visits) won't be available to the target environment. Most insights data will be initialized. You can freely generate new interaction data on the target environment without affecting your source environment."

Because you have to run the wizard again and services are provisioned from scratch, most of interactions data won't be available.

    Regards
