Vol of items in sales order more than max volume of load, release to warehouse is still successful

Hi experts,

When total volume of items on a sales order is exceeding maximum allowed volume in load template, D365 should disallow releasing to a warehouse. This is failing currently. However same use case w.r.t weight is a success i.e., D365 is stopping release to warehouse if the total weight of items on sale order is exceeding maximum allowed load weight on load template. Attached document has screenshots w.r.t volume and request someone to respond whether am missing something w.r.t configuration or is this a bug.

From your screenshot, I can see that the volume of your item does not exceed the tip volume of the load template (210.000 against 5.760.000).. This is why you’re able to release it without any prompts.

Have you checked the volumes of the load template?

Thanks for responding. There was a refresh issue w.r.t calculating the volume of item in released products. but it was correctly populating in physical dimensions form and shipment. I have revised the document and request you to re-visit the document as the issue still exist.

    Thanks

    Hi Pranav,

when you want to use volumetric calculation for the warehouse process, the physical dimension defined on the released product under the manage inventory fast tab doesn't work.

You must define it under the action pane > Manage inventory > physical dimension.

Note: Please help verify answer(s) if they guide you in right direction so other community members can also benefit from your question with verified answer.

    Hi Sagar Patil,

Physical dimension defined on the released product under the manage inventory fast tab are in fact auto populated in action pane > Manage inventory > physical dimension. It's like changes are on either side are updating on the other side.

    Thanks,
    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,
Could you expand on the process leading to the Load exceeding load template volume?  Are you using Outbound Load Planning Workbench?

    Hi Pranav,

It will only notify us that there is an excess. It will still create the load. You can release the load to warehouse and work still be created.
