Possible to define effort as a percentage within a project - tasks?

Hello all,

I am wondering if it is possible to set effort as a percentage within project - tasks.

Lets say that you set start date to 1.1. and finish date to 5.1, and that you want a resource to be working on this tasks 50%. It would then be great if it would be possible to set effort % to 50% and that would calculate effort to be 20 hours by it self.

This would probably demand that we get a new column available within tasks, and that seems to be hard to configure.

Does anyone have a good suggestion to how this can be archived?
