How to Enable Bing Maps

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I recently signed up for a trial(Dynamics365/Field Service). Bing Maps is not working.  It says:
We can't connect to Bing Maps because they are disabled. Please navigate to 'Resource Scheduling'/ 'Administration'/ 'Scheduling Parameters'/ 'Connect to Maps' to enable connection.

How ever I cannot find this location.  I was able to find an administration page and enabled Bing Maps, however this specific location above that is under "Resource Scheduling" cannot be found...clearly I am missing something....is there a trick to displaying this "Resource Scheduling" page?

THanks

Hi, for anyone looking for this. If you have latest Field Service version with Unified Interface the help on internet will not really guide you correctly, you will need to select app called "Universal Resource Scheduling" first. Then go to Settings=>Administration from there

Enable Bing Maps to use resource scheduling

To take full advantage of the scheduling and mapping capabilities available with Field Service, verify that it is configured to use a mapping provider. Bing Maps is the default map provider, but additional providers can be enabled.

    1. In Dynamics 365, select the arrow next to the Dynamics 365 text, and then select Universal Resource Scheduling.
    2. Go to Settings (From the drop down in bottom-left corner)
    3. Select Administration.
    4. Select Scheduling Parameters.
    5. Locate the Connect to Maps field, and set it to Yes.
    6. Save and close the settings.

If there is anything different from steps I provided, such as "Scheduling Parameters" can not be found, please provide your screenshots.

If it goes well, this way can solve your problem.

The administration page you find is to turn Bing Maps on or off for your organization, not enable Bing Maps for Field Service. You can refer to this article.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao
