365 CE: Having some fields editable in an Active (Read-Only) Quote?

Hi there,

Is it possible to have some fields editable after a Quote has been Activated and so the Quote as such has become Read-Only?

I have created an extra tab which contains some fields which are also present in the Business Process Flow of the Quote which we need to have editable after the Quote as been activated. Now the activated Quote and so these fields are read-only. Would this be possible with a certain script/Business Rules?

Just in case, we need to have this on an Activated Quote! So, we don't want to revise the Quote in order to make all fields editable again, just a few fields in the Quote table should stay editable after having the Quote activated.

Thank you for your input.

Best,

RGH

    Hi RGH RGH,

You could add a business rule on Quote entity to achieve this. Below is my test:

    1. Create a business rule to unlock the fields when the quote is activate.

    2. You could still edit the fields when the Quote is activated.

    Hi Steve,

It seems that having these fields editable and saving another value works just fine for users who have System Administrator rights, but other users are not able to save their changes and get an read only error.

Any idea which Security Role setting is allowing the System Administrator to do this and the other users not?

    Best,

    RGH

I have a similar situation, my role is system administrator, and some fields are available to edit even though the record is in read-only and marked as complete (Task Entity in this example)

I need clarification for which security role setting/option is required, as I have a small business requirement for one particular user to make some changes after the fact.

    Any thoughts?

Did anyone figure out how to allow users that don't have administrator rights to edit the fields and save the record
