ISV license with 3072-bits issue

Hi,

We have AX2012R2/R3 solution and previously we use 2048 bit certificate on the license code to sign our solution but after our certificate expiration, we could not renew it because starting from May of 2021 certificate issuers can only generate 3072 and 4096 bits size for code signing.

But old AX2012R2/R3 not working with such big key sizes. License generated with such certificate AX not accept.

Any ideas how ISVs should sign their solutions now?

From MS help for D365FO:

"The ISV licensing feature supports certificates of both 1024-bit and 2048-bit key sizes. 3072-bit and 4096-bit code signing certificates are supported beginning with platform updates for version 10.0.20"

How about customers ?,

How will the customer servers will treat our self signed certificates.

Did you trying sending to customers.

MSFT recommendation - use a self-signed certificate.
