Numerous attempts to import .csv file through template - straightforward company list w/address, email, phone, Industry and so forth. Able to upload file and map successfully only to have records fail on import. On one or two attempts small number were labeled successful which I'm guessing may explain the first error described below.
In one instance entire list failed w/"A record was not created or updated because a duplicate of the record already exists" with a reference to error code 0x80040333. Others indicate Another group failed with the following in Transform Log Phase w/"The lookup reference could not be resolved" Error code 0x80040353. Think I resolved the lookup reference by hiding/not importing the referenced column. That said feels like I've created a absolute mess. Any thoughts would be tremendously appreciated.

Can you please share the mapping and CSV file screenshot.
Also, if you are mapping lookup field then you need to make sure one record exist for each lookup value .
Check both active and inactive record, of duplicate present delete them before import
