Does Tax Year-End Closing occur automatically?

This is our first year end close with GP and I'm working through the process.  I went to look at the Tax Year-End close screen and expected to find a blank field for the last date closed field...instead it says the Tax Year was closed on January 1.  Does this occur automatically despite the manual instructions in KB875169?  We're running 22 companies and all of them are indicating the tax year has already been closed.

    Hi,

Yes its look like the tax year end runs automatically.  But for receivable/payable/financial we need to run by going to  Routines of each module to run the same.  The following is for Purchasing year end the same way you can do Sales & Financial.

Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Routines >> Purchasing >> Year-End Close

The opening balance of all balance sheet items will have zero until you close the last open year.

    Babu,

I do not think the tax year end runs automatically. It doesn't at any of my clients anyway. Where have you seen this happen automatically?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie,

Happy new year to you.  When I go to the following window

    Administration >> Routines >> Company >> Tax Year-End Close

The Date Closed : 01/01/2015 I have tested this in all companies in live environment as well as test environment and this happened on GP 2013 R2 as well as GP 10.  And none of the company Tax Year end close ran by any user.  Please let me know if this is correct.
