Budget Revision

Posted on by 19,790

Hi All ,

I have two accounts X, Y and defined the budget register for these two accounts also with budget code as Original and updated also.

X -Account  Value  - 10,000

Y- Account Value  - 20,000.

Now i need to revise the budget value of account Y value - 30000.

So in that case what would be your suggestion ?

Can i modify the intial budget register entry of Y account ?

Can i delete the intial budget register entry of Y account ?

How to update the revised value ?

When it comes to the revised value do i need to enter 10000( becuase already entered 20000) or need to enter the 30000?

Thanks in advance.

    RE: Budget Revision

    HI Lally,

I faced the same issue and here's what I've recommended.

    1) Do a new budget register entry with the Revision budget type

    2) Select the account structure and the exact dimension values that were originally posted for account Y.

    3) Enter a negative 20000 on the first line.

    4) Enter a positive 30000 on the second line.

    5) Update budget balances.

    6) While on the updated budget register entry, click on Related information > Budget balances.

This should now show you 30000 for account Y.

Keep in mind, when using standard AX, you have to enter the value that's the difference between the original value & the new value i.e. if you wanted to go from 20000 to 30000, then you just enter 10000 in the Revised budget type. But if the client/user doesn't want to see the original 20000, then you have to do a negative entry to reverse it out and post a positive value of 30000 directly to reflect the same. Also, this does NOT delete the original budget of 20000 that was posted.

Under the Revised budget type, the negative value just reflects a "reversal".

    Hope that helps.

Did you found any solution ?

If the status of Budget Register Entry is not "Completed" , then yes delete and create a new one. If it is completed, the record cannot be deleted.

Thank you Swamy for the reply.

My user says that do not want keep that first record for the Y ( 20000/-) account in the budget register entry ,

Delete that entry and create the new entry with 30000/- , in that case what would be your suggestion ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi -

I am assuming you have updated the budget balances for the first Budget Register Entry. That means that document cannot be updated/deleted. If it is not updated, then it is still a draft budget register entry that can be updated.

I recommend you create a budget code for revision and then create a new budget register entry for 10,000 for account "Y" and update budget balances.

Hope this helps, if not let me know.
