order pools

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I'm looking for information on how users are using Order Pools.  What is the purpose and how are they beneficial?  Anyones experience would be valuable.

    Re: order pools

    Hi,

You can find the following definition for the term "pool" in Dynamics Ax help Glossary:

pool - A group of items, such as invoices, sales orders, or productions, that have characteristics in common and are to be handled in a similar fashion.

For orders, pools are a way of organizing and grouping. For example, consider the following task: Filter out all open sales orders that are for customers representing public sector companies. If you know you will often have this task, you can create a SO pool for public sector companies, and use the filter on the SO details form to find those orders. (before that you might need to add the Pool field to the form using right click > Setup)

Browse the Ax help for more info on pools.

Hope this clarifies things a little.
