WMS - Error when receiving transfer order and item is reserved order

Hello,

I have this issue in WMS. (AX2012 R3 environment). I have to receive an item in WMS enabled warehouse (let's say 2 pcs).

From th same item I have 500 pcs ordered (in a PO) and another 2 order (in the transfer order I have to receive). I also have a SO for 500 pcs. Part of the are physically reserved, the rest are ordered reserved.

There are no markings.

I am using the "Transfer order receive" menu item. This menu item should execute two actions:

1. Put the item on the Inbound dock

2. Create a work to move the item from Inbound to warehouse.

I receive a message, saying the 2 pcs cannot be reserved, because 0 are available. Reservation is needed between the pick and put lines of the work.

My guessing is, that after step 1 the items are available and AX reserves against the SO.

Any ideas how to solve this?

    Hi Ventsislav Tsankov,

    Some points to check in the transfer order. Is the transfer order having status shipped. Also can you share the inventory transaction of the transfer order.

    While receiving are you getting this error on the mobile device? Normally incoming goods which are ordered reserved on some sales order do not cause any issues in receiving, As soon as these items are received the inventory status of the item on sales order changes to reserved physical.

    It would be helpful if you can share the transfer order transactions, status and the screenshot of the error.

    Hi, Sagar.

    Error is :

    Physical on-hand Site=Т,Warehouse=CWS0000001,Location=IN_01,Inventory status=1.СТД,License plate=000LP0435713803 P09152591: 2.00 cannot be reserved because only 0.00 are available in the inventory.

    (of course, LP changes every time, because the menu item is set to generate LP).

    Here is a screenshot of the transactions. I see nothing wrong, to be honest.

    Actually, there is no work at all. AX just cannot create it. The error comes upon creating the work, in my understanding.

    Hi Ventsislav,

    You can only use "Transfer order receive" menuitem if you didn't pick the transfer order through mobile device.

    If so, you should use "License plate receiving" menuitems instead.

    The issue is below. I hope that helps.

    1. You use a license plate while picking Items in the warehouse: You either assign a LP manually or let application generate it. let's say at the end you used LP001.

    2. You ship the transfer order now, you have inventory in the transit warehouse with LP value set to LP001.

    3. You try to receive 1 qty of this item with transfer order receiving menuitem, with generate LP parameter set to true as you said. So application tries to pull 1 qty with the new LP which is LP002. To be able to do that, there should be reserved inventory in your transit warehouse with empty LP value.  Since there is not, application will say there isn't enough inventory to perform this action.

    Instead, license plate receiving menuitem should be used and LP001 should be entered in the mobile device.

    You can only use transfer order receiving menuitems if you:

    a. Specify LocationID in your transfer order lines and ship the transfer order

    b. Post packing list manually and ship the transfer order.

    In one of these ways you can have inventory in your transit warehouse with LP value set to empty so you can pass the validation at Step3

    I see your point and I guess you maybe right. Actually, the sending warehouse is not WMS enabled. I guess this is why AX is assigning a 'fake' LP in the receiving transaction of the receiving warehouse. Please, see screenshot below:

    So, do you think that I have to use LP receiving to receive this?

    Or maybe, as all transfer order will come like this, I should just create a "fixed" LP and always receive on it. Then I can use Transfer order receiving menu item, but without auto generation LP. 

    And once received, I should use another menu item, Movement by template (with LP generation) to move the item from inbount to bulk?

    Hi Ventsi,

    To be forced to use "LP receiving", there must be a LP in your transfer order shipment's "sold" line.

    Your scenario seems fine and you should be good to go with transfer order receiving menu item.

    Since the LP is empty on top and only filled on receive action, there should be an existing work in Open status.

    Can you please check your work list to find the one matches with your LP value in Target License Plate field? And investigate it? Are you able to move on with a user directed menu item?

    I used my scenario to scan the LP from the transaction and I was able to receive the item on the Inbound. AX created automatically the putaway work, which is OK.

    But still, this does not explain why I can use menu item "Transfer order receive" with auto creation of LP to receive item, which are not reserved ordered.

    Hi Ventsi,

    Since there is no LP number on the transaction of transfer order shipment, you should be good to use Transfer order receive menuitem with auto creation of LP. There must be some other case to cause this issue.

    Do you have any customizations that might have caused double triggering the transaction or anything like that?  Maybe another user triggered it, too?

    You can check mobile device user log history in "Warehouse management/common/ work user sessions" form's logging tab if you log user sessions in warehouse management parameters to decide on that.

    I hope to be able to solve this issue soon.

    Hello again, everyone.

    I asked the developers to do some investigation. We found differences in behavior between CU8 and CU12. In CU8 environment same scenario works just fine.

    According to the developers, the problem in CU12 is caused by KB3173454 - "Bug Id 3757054: "Inventory dimension Batch number must be specified".

    Sounds a little strange to me, but actually there is a change, concerning Inventdimid in the transaction table, which is later inserted in the works transaction table, where the problem is in a way inherited.

    I should raise an incident to Microsoft now and I will update here with their response.
