Workflow - Change Record Status not working

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello!

My workflow operates on the Lead record.  It's simple.  When field1 changes:

1. Workflow updates date in field2

2. Workflow changes Lead record status.

Except the status will NOT update although the date in field2 does.  I have another workflow which runs when the Process Stage field value changes and that updates the Lead record status just fine.  Does anyone know what I might be missing?

Sian

Are you trying to update the Status field, or are you using the "Change Status" workflow step?  You need to use the latter, the former fails, as status changes are different than changing other fields.

I am using the "Change Status" step - I can't see any difference between what I'm doing in this workflow and the one that works.  Except that field1 is located on the Business Process Flow banner rather than on the main user screen.

Field1 now located to main Lead record screen with no effect.

When the workflow executes, do the execution records get to that step?  Do they check it like something happened?  Make sure you're not deleting successful executions of the workflow so you can see where it's exiting, even if it's not failing.

Also, screenshots of the workflow would help.

I've pared everything down to the basics.  Here are the three fields on the Lead screen:

Here's a simple workflow I created to test the problem.  When I change the Hibernation Period, the record status will not change (first line of workflow), although I can change it manually.  The Hibernation Date does change (second line of workflow).  I'm sure it's something ridiculously simple.

Change the record before updating status.

Sure that Hibernation Period status is part of Active state . Otherwise next step will failed.

The best is,  first you update the lead and then after you change the status.

    dear Sian,

just try to change the steps order, first update the record then update status.

Is it really necessary to run this as a real-time workflow? Have you / can you try converting it to run in the background and see if it makes any difference?
