Hi

I have a Parent / Child Account setup.

The child account have a specific free text number that is captured on it. Once the Child account is set to active, i want that free text number to appear on the Parent Account as a reference.

How can i achieve this by using a workflow that executes on Child Account activation.

Thanks

    Hi Jackal,

You need to create a workflow to trigger on account record status change. This work flow should check the condition if the account's status is Active and Parent Account contains data. If so, update Parent Account record to set the field from child account record. In below example, SIC Code is copied from child to parent account.

    Hi JackalD365,

if you want to copy the phone number for the primary contact, you can use a quick view, and you don't need to replicate the data. If instead is a normal 1:N (parent account lookup on a contact) you might need to decide which of the many contact will push the phone number on the parent account.

    Best Regards,

    Thank you for the answer.

What do I do in a case where the one account is an account that must be closed, and a new account opened, with a reference to the old account, e.g. change of ownership of a business (That is where there is no Parent / Child account setup)

E.g, I have an account with a business registration number, I create a new account when the ownership change and the business registration number is different. Once the new account is set to active, the workflow must close the old account and populate the business registration number of the new account on the old account as a reference for history purposes.

    Thanks!

You need to create a custom workflow or a plugin in order to deactivate/close the old account and populate the business registration number from new account.
