Scope of the Team Member licenses for BC

I have users in my system that are only required to perform the roles of upload/updating items and item reference on business central. I also have some users only required to perform warehouse or inventory operations such as receiving POs or Creating/Receiving transfers and maybe inventory adjustments.

Would the team member license be sufficient for these persons to perform there tasks?
I have the same question (0)

When it comes to posting, team member license has restrictions.

Generally, a Team Member license lets users update existing records but not create new ones, with a few exceptions such as being able to create purchase or sales quotes. So they can update existing Item Cards, but they won’t be able to create new Item Cards.

For warehouse operations, they can update existing documents, but they won’t be able to create new documents or post anything.

Based on what you described, it sounds like Team Member licenses won’t be sufficient.

    Hi,

Considering the operations you have mentioned in your questions, team member license won't work. Team member licenses are only for Approvals, Sales Quote and Purchase Quote. You can not really rely on it to do any other task.

It's better to use Device licenses which are another low cost alternative to full premium or essential licenses.

However please note that there must be at least one premium or essential licenses assigned in your tenant. All device license to all users won't work.

    Unfortunately, that's not possible.

    Thanks.

    Hello,
No, not for the warehouse/inventory users. Team Member is usually fine only for light maintenance of existing records like basic item or item-reference updates, but users who need to receive POs, ship/receive transfer orders, or post inventory adjustments are doing real inventory transactions/posting, so they should be on Essentials (or Device in some shared warehouse-device scenarios). License entitlements control what they can do, and permissions alone won’t expand Team Member into a full operational license.
    Regards,
