Hi,

I need to create a Purchase Requisition from Request For Quotation. Since, it is completely opposite to the standard process followed in AX i.e., creation of Request For Quotation From Purchase Requisition am not able to proceed. Would be of great help if anyone suggests the possible solution to this.

Regards,

Rittija

    Hi Rittija,

We could not achieve this without customization.

When will u create PR from RFQ, after receiving reply from Vendor or before sending details to vendor?

In Ax they are effectively alternative routes to a PO. However your requirement is quite common and more logical.

From a business process angle, once an approved PR reaches Purchasing then they can then kick off an RFQ and then create the PO from the RFQ -  this is  not an automatic process and there is a disconnect on the budget control. The RFQ process   is thus more for annual tenders or big projects, and help to set the budget, against which  subsequent PRs can be raised.

To try and tie the two processes together maybe a case can be triggered by the PR approver for Purchase to start an RFQ process, Once that is completed and the cost advised to the approver he can ask for more quotes, or close the case, then decide whether to approve the PR or to give the go ahead to convert the RFQ.

A customisation on the POR would need a field to select and RFQ is needed, a process to trigger the RFQ , then an update of the RFQ the number back to the PR, and the RR number to the RFQ, then a decision on whether the order will drive from the PR in which case the cost and vendor needs to be brought back to the PR; or from the RFQ in which case you have to consider how PR approval and budget control will complete.

Not exactly an automated process, but its more like the real world. Its an area where a lot of enhancement is desirable especially for PSA companies.
