I suggest you to install CU7 on AX 2012 R2, in CU7 installation wizard you will get option for DMF to install

please verify and let me know if you need more information.

Before CU7 do I have to take backup of my entire AX ?

as per standard practice you should take backup before you do any modification to AX environment for rollback plan..

for earlier version of DMF for Dynamics AX 2012 R2 it was required to import AX model file for DMF installation.

Please try to find the installer file from informationsource.

Please verify and let us know your findings

    Hi MayurAX,

If you are going to upgrade to CU7, you have to verify and upgrade also all your customizations. It could be easy or hard, depending on the number of customizations and how it was implemented.

Then also you have to test if everything is still working as expected.

If you are usign the DIXF from Informationsource, an upgrade to the DIXF in CU7 or future versions is not supported as elements are in another layer. Although it is not supported, it is possible to upgrade it. I wrote a blog how to do this in the past.
