Event Custom Registration fields are not supported for new marketing users?

Posted on by 8
Hello guys,

Can someone assist us how we can use those /Event Custom Registration fields/. We can create them without a problem and connect them to events, but we don’t see those created fields in form editor, so we can’t add them in to our event form. Check pictures below.

Is the problem that we have fresh marketing environment with only RTM tools only or what might be the problem?

    I was also pretty upsad when I recognized that custom fields are not supported yet in RT.
    I found a workaround which works also with Real Time Marketing.
    It requires that you manipulate the html code of the rt registration form.

    In order to add a custom text field to the form paste the following code:

                                                                    <div class="textFormFieldBlock"
                                                                        data-editorblocktype="TextFormField"
                                                                        data-required="required">
                                                                        <label title="Test" for="testfield1"><p>This is a Test field</p></label>
                                                                        <input id="testfield1" type="text" name="testfield1" placeholder="Enter custom text" title="Test" maxlength="50" value="" required="required">
                                                                    </div>

    The name tag of the input field usually contains the logical name of the corresponding field of the contact. But if you enter any other name then still this field is accepted.
    You can copy/paste any other input field you regularly use and simply need to change the ids as well as the name Tag.
    The downside of this, is that the response is only stored in the form submission, but at least it is stored somewhere and you can see it within the system.

    Feel free to upvote the idea: Microsoft Idea (dynamics.com) in order to get this missing feature into the system.

    Fortunately we have Outbound Marketing installed so we can still use OB forms for events (with custom fields) but the fact Microsoft have not implemented it for RTM forms feels really sloppy, that's a pretty important feature if wanting to use forms for events.

    Dengliang Li, thanks for your answer.

    The only problem is that we don't have those outbound marketing tools anymore, because we installed marketing two weeks ago and only RTM tools are installed. I got answer from Microsoft via email where they said that custom fields are on the roadmap for CY24 Q2-3. So seems that we have to ask Microsoft if they can still enable those Outbound marketing tools to us, because event custom registration fields are very important to us and i can image that those are very important to anyone new Marketing user who want to manage their events easily.

    I encountered the same issue as you during testing.
    However, when I use the outbound event, custom fields can be added to the form.

    This is because the type of form used to register an event in the real-time event is a real-time form.
    The real-time form does not support adding external custom fields, but only fields from the Audience (Contact) entity.

    Therefore, if you need to use custom registration fields in event registration.
     It is recommended that you use the outbound events, or custom registration fields in the contact entity.

     I hope my answer is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
