Why can't we activate a cost rollup with a future date?

I don't know if I'm missing something or if someone can point out on how can we activate a cost rollup in future?

Let's say I want to simulate a price increase within my operations and overhead. I'm able to simulate the total cost increase with incremental changes and what I want is to set those cost for the future. So they get picked up at the corresponding date. But as soon I activate the cost roll up, even if I put the from date in the future, the activation date is always the system date.

Why is that? and is there a way to achieve what I want?

Any suggestions would help.

thanks

    Hi Veronika,

Have you tried to change Session date and time before cost record creation/activation?

    I did.

I used the future session date to create my costing version to be valid from 12/1/2018. It worked. I was able to activate 2 cost rollup.

at 9/12/2018 and at 12/1/2018. When I run my calculation to do simulation cost for 12/1/2018, it still picks the cost for 9/12/2018.

    I don't understand.

But anyhow, this is not a good work around...it's a bit dirty.

I wonder what customers do? I mean this is natural to want to project the change in the cost for the future periods. But it is not possible.

    Veronika,

Which price simulation are you talking about - price simulation on the sales quotation?

I have just created 2 prices, and in order to test that AX is taking the right price I created movement journal. By changing the Date in the journal - AX is selecting the right price based on the activation date. Could you please share the screenshots where you are checking the price selection?

No I am talking about cost simulation not price on the quotation.

But here is where i do my cost changes for labour or overhead and simulate calculations for all BOMs.

    Veronika,

Thank you for clarification. On my env - it's still working. I have created BOM, and 1 component. I have inserted 2 prices for the component with current date and future date. Then I ran calculation of the BOM and AX is taking the right price depends on the Calculation date. If I select current date as Calculation date, AX will take the current price of the component. If I select future date as Calculation date, AX will take the future price of the component. I am checking the price by clicking Compete button on the Pending item price.

    Ok,

I have the same example and it does not work. Can you please send me some screen shots ok the parameters of where you set the price, parameters you use to calcule the price. And what item model is your item? Also, do you use standard costing version or planned costing version?

It would be super appreciated as I need this for tomorrow..

You can wright to my email directly vfilonenko@thinkmax.com or answer here as you wish

Try to calculate costs for specific BOM only. And try to run Recalculate BOM levels (Product information management > Periodic tasks). By the way, I am checking on the D365 on the latest update. Maybe there were some fixes.

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for the screen shots. I was able to make it work.

The important part is to have an active or planned cost on the same costing version of both top level BOM and in the child level BOM.

How were you successful to get the "activation date" to be in the future? did you end up changing the system date?
