Installing AX R3 just hangs

Hi,

We are getting a really issue that has just started to happen. 
We have a standard server image that we manually install AX on. We have used the same installation media for years but just recently its started failing. 

The installation logs do not provide any help information, during the installation of the AX components the installer just hangs with no errors,

We have download a fresh copy of AX and aded CU13, but still the same issue. We have disabled the Anti Virus system.

When we try to run msi files directly the installer states..

Searching for installed applications

Property: Found_DevEnv_EXE and then it just hangs again

Any pointers would be amazing - thank you

    Do you see any logs in the event viewer?

    thanks for responding. No nothing I'm afraid, its a silently failure. Whist installing the components part it will just hang the installer right at the start. Nothing in the install log files or event viewer gives any clues on the issue. We are stumped at the minute

    Have you tried to Run "Validate system requirements" under Prepare section in the Installer and check if there are any issues? Also, what is your OS version?

    Hi, yup the validation process works ok, no issues there.

    Its server 2016 64GB RAM

    Could you stop Windows Update service and try running the installer again?

    Sorry I will pick this up again tomorrow, I've set the Windows Services to manual, but something has come up and I'm out of time tomorrow. Thanks for the help, updates to follow...

    Hi, just to let you know that we tried your recommendation and it still did not work I'm afraid. Same issue the installer just hangs. Any further thoughts? thanks

    Do you have Visual Studio installed on this server? If yes, could you uninstall VS and all the related components and try the install again?
