Moving a Warehouse

Does anyone have any thoughts on moving a warehouse under a different site? Some possible scenarios for this are if a warehouse was put under an incorrect site or if a mobile warehouse changes sites. Attempting to change the site in the UI comes up with an error stating it cannot be done.

Hi,

If there are transactions or worksheet tables used, the table InventDim contains records where the site and warehouse were used. It is not possible to move the warehouse to another site. You can create a new warehouse and move the current stock to that warehouse. When you want to reuse the warehouse code, you can try to rename the warehouse first. Be careful with this. It will take some time to update all references. Also check if really all related records are updated then. I'm mostly afraid if you might have customizations. This procedure should be tested in a test environment first.

Thanks Andre -- Any ideas of how to quickly move all stock from one warehouse to another? Manually moving it line by line could be horrific.

Perfoming a dump of on-hand inventory to excel and import a transfer journal using DIXF tool. all reservations would have to be cleared first.

A larger problem you will have with a site change for warehouse would be any warehouse defaults set up throughout AX (site specific-settings) and any open orders (outstanding PO's). The warehouse could be specified in a lot of places and each would have to be updated to reflect the "new" warehouse.
