Since you want to implement this on on-premises also you need to write a plugin on Send message of Email entity (or Create message of Case entity) to manipulate the email subject (or Case Title). This needs developer skills.

This single plugin would work for both on-premises and online. So, write once and deploy on both orgs.

There is another way to resolve this and that is using Microsoft Flow's no code low code platform. But that would work for online only.

Isn't it redundant effort to first introduce the word [External] in exchange using transport rule and then try to get rid of it in CRM! I would rather prefer working with exchange admin to disable the transport rule so that it does not get appended in exchange itself.

    Hello ZG,

I am from CRM, for exchange transport rule either you engage with exchange admin from your organization / start a thread in exchange community or raise a support request with microsoft for exchange.

    Thanks,

    Roshpal
