Task Recorder : Error com object class when generate word document

Hi,

When i generate word document from task recorder, this error is displayed :

Method '%1' of the COM object class '%2' returned error code 0x%3 (%4), which mean 5%

Someone already had this error? however this method is / parameters

Hi Florent,

Do you have Word installed? If so what version and also what exact AX 2012 version (and CU) are you using? You can check within the System requirements guide if this combination is supported.

Ax version 2012 R3 : 6.3.164.0

Word is installed, version : word 2013

Hi André,

Yes i used a terminal server solution. Ax Client and Word 2013 are installed on a TSE Server.

Hi Florent,

We had some problems in the past with Citrix. We solved it by installing Office and the AX client a locally. We have not done further investigations.

I have recently tracked this to additional pop up dialog windows that appear when one opens Word on the machine where the task recorder documents are created.

In my example, these were Office activation dialog windows, because Office hasn't been activated on the TS. I was getting all sorts of errors depending on how much data AX would manage to put into the document before the dialog would pop up. Sometimes an error in the original post, sometimes something about 'styles' method etc.

After Office got activated, the problem went away. I wonder if any other dialog windows that Word can potentially present after start of the application, are capable of producing this issue, too. Like previously unsaved documents, missing template for blank document, there are others as well, I think.

I encountered the same error on trying to generate document using word template;

Changes that i did before encountering the error: Updated formatting of one of the table cell (Table Properties > Cell Tab > Options > checked "Fit Text" checkbox) followed by replacing the old document template with this new one; Also there were 2-3 other word documents already open before generating the required document.

Diagnosis:

Closed all the other open word documents i.e. did quit Word application;

Restarted MS Dynamics AX;

Tried to regenerate the document and found the issue to be resolved.
