SQL license question for 2009 sp1

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are on NAV2009 sp1 and will be moving our software from a local cloud provider to in-house.  I need to purchase SQL license and not sure what versions to get.  We want to be prepared to move to 2015 with the correct license.  Any help?

Your best option is purchase the SQL Runtime with your NAV license. The cost is minimun, and you can upgrade as far as your NAV version require. The limitation is that you cannot use SQL for other apps. It's SQL Standard edition.

    Good luck!

    Refer this link : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd301054(v=nav.80).aspx#SQLReq

You can also go ahead with the latest versions, however do not go ahead with the express versions.

nav 2015 also works with the sql server express for no cost (but no ms support).

following versions are compatible with nav2015:

    * Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express, Standard or Enterprise.

    * Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express, Standard, or Enterprise (64-bit editions only).

    * Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, Workgroup, Standard, Data Center, or Enterprise (64-bit editions only).

if you want ms support for the product, you'll need a full version. for that go to:

Do I need individual license or do I need unlimited Cal?   We use NAV to net for our online e-commerce site.   Only have 15 internal users.
