How does one view a general ledger account with a running balance?

I have not found a way of viewing a general ledger account with a running balance. It seems logical, from an accounting point of view, to be able to do this in order to have an overview of an account.

Does anyone have an answer, suggestion, or solution?

Would the Summary Inquiry screen work? Financial > Inquiry > Summary. This will give a running balance for each period where you can drill into the period and look at the details.

Not sure if this would satisfy your requirement or not.

Another option is some kind of Excel or SSRS reporting. One of the columns could be a running total.
