The Workspace X is already mapped to Path Y

I am trying to connect my Dev environments to TFS but anytime I try to enable source control, i get the error message saying the Workspace X is already mapped to the Path Y

I am the only one using the environment and I can see that the workspace was correctly created in Visual Studio. There is only one instance of the workspace and the location is on the server.

When I dug into it further, I can see that there are two instances of the same workspace in the C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\3.0\Cache\VersionControl.config file.

Question - Why is AX trying to create multiple workspaces with the same name instead of using the first one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using TFS 2017 with AX 2012 R3 CU12.

    Hi Jaya,

    I tried that already.

I deleted all the workspaces from visual studio and cleared the cache file but the next time I login to AX it creates two workspaces with the same exact name.

    Hi Jaya,

I have tried those links as well.  I have verified that there were no workspaces that existed before I Launched AX. The minute I Launch AX, it tries to create two workspaces with the same name and I get into a conflict.

We have encountered the same problem as you report.

Have you find a solution for this problem?

Hello, yes in my case I was missing a pre-requisite.

Make sure you have the pre-requisites mentioned in the system requirements installed

Thank you for the tip!  I am using tfs 2017.  Installing the pre-requisites fixed the issue for me as well. So these are the pre-reqs I installed -

Installed this first on the AX client machine -

    https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=EdH-MSFT.TeamFoundationServer2010SP1ObjectModelInstaller

then you need to apply this kb (KB 2662296) –

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2662296/fix-an-update-for-visual-studio-2010-sp1-is-available-to-add-compatibi

    Thanks,
