Fixed Asset -Depreciation set up

Hi Community,

I am using Microsoft Dynamics NAV.  I added few fixed assets in my book and when I am doing monthly depreciation calculation, these new assets are not showing any monthly depreciation.

When I compared these Fixed Asset in the complete List- these new assets are not showing any column related to Straight line% (rate of depreciation).

I think the reason for not calculating monthly depreciation for these assets is due to no % defined for these assets or is there any other process I am missing.  And how to define this depreciation rate for new assets?

thanks

Khushwant

    Hi,

Open the Fixed Asset card and check whether you have defined the lines (basically the FA Depreciation Book details).  Check the "FA Depreciation Book Code", "FA Posting Group", "Depreciation Method", "Depreciation Start Date", "Depreciation End Date" etc.

    Thanks Mahesh,

When I take a fixed asset list, all previous assets are showing a specific % straight line depreciation.  But in FA depreciation book detail, "Depreciation Ending Date" is blank.  In the same way, all new assets are not showing any percentage so in case I will fill "Depreciation ending date", whether it will work.

and again, how for all previous assets, without completing "Depreciation end date", Straight line % is defined?

    thanks

If you are using a straight line % (provided you have defined the %), you don't need the Depreciation End Date.  Either you need the Depreciation End Date or the %.

Please check whether you want to actually have two different kinds of Depreciation methods to be used. (in the above example, one is with % and the other is by entering the Depreciation End Date which is based on the number of Depreciation Years.

You may click on the Lines, Choose Columns, and display the "Straight Line %" and you may enter the value.
