Search Purchase Order Product by Product ID instead or Product and display related product

Purchasing have multiple similar products and so want to search for products by product ID not the product then also display the product in a different field.

I want to setup purchase order product so it does a lookup against the Product ID (i realise this isn't a Primary column) and not the Product. However then show the Product related to it in a different field.

Any ideas how I can do this?
