Issue with Deleted Role Still Assigning Licenses in Power Platform Admin Center

Hello,

I’m encountering a significant issue with user license assignments. About a year ago, I created a custom role which I have since deleted. When I search for this role under Security Configuration, it no longer appears, confirming that it was

successfully removed.

However, when I go to Assign Roles to Users, the deleted role still shows up and appears to be assigned.

The main problem is within the Power Platform Admin Center under Supply Chain licenses: all environments and users are shown with this role — even system users like API and document routing accounts are assigned licenses associated with this role. Yet, when I check the users directly, the role is not listed in their profiles.

Could you please assist in identifying why this deleted role is still affecting license assignments, and advise on how to resolve the issue?

Hi,

The Power platform admin center is quite incorrect when it comes to licenses. Microsoft is working on a fix.

I would create a MS ticket. They will probably identify it as a bug.

Hi Pamela,

On the Security configuration page, there is a menu option Repair. This will rebuild some runtime tables related to the security roles. You can read more here: Security configuration - What is the 'Repair' button? - Dynamicspedia

You can also check if the security role is assigned with a disabled status. See my video on YouTube: License reporting – incorrect user role assignments

We managed to remove the role, but it didn't fix the licensing issues. I've looked at your video, which was very helpful, thank you.

However, we still run into some issues with non-compliant licenses. In Power Platform, some users are assigned activity roles, but none in the admin platform. Also, we have SCM licenses in F&O, but the platform requires both the SCM and the Finance license attaches, I think we're missing something.

Hi Pamela,

The reports on PPAC for licensing is having some issues and displays incorrect information. Microsoft is aware and fixing them. This can take several weeks.
