Role based view and dashboard?

Can someone explain to me how to set up a role based view or dashboard? I don’t find the way to do it.

In a form you can address the form to a specific role but I don’t find this function for views and dashboard.

So how do I do this? Help me please.

Thomas - I am not sure I understand the question, but will try to walk in on it.  You can create a view on any criteria you want (including looking up the security role for the user with an XML fetch see the CRM SDK for an example),  The dashboard can be customized in CRM 2011 and saved and then made the starting dashboard when CRM is launched by the user - so they will always see the one they want.  Is this close?

    Strange.

Look at this information from MS about news in MS CRM 2011

    Hi Jon

In the information from MS it says

    "Role-based Forms and Views

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 displays forms and views based on user roles. This role-tailored design ensures that the business professionals in your organization have fast access to the information they need. Role-based forms and views also prevent users from viewing data that they are not authorized to view."

The only way I cant read this information is that the role based function should work both in forms and views.

Re: Role based view and dashboard?

Guys, you may just have helped me w/ my problem. Let me know if I'm off-base though.

I'd like for our salespeople to view & edit all accounts and contacts but not opportunities associated w/ those contacts & accounts that do not belong them. However, when a salesperson looks at one of the default system dashboard, he can not only drill down into other salespeople's information (including opportunities) but also edit it. Would a role-based dashboard work in this case?
