Hi,
What will happen when the certificate used to create an ISV license expires?
And is there an official statement from Microsoft that I can show to my CTO, which is quite worried that everything will stop working, or that we won’t be able to change license (increased user count) without having to also replace the model.
A expiration date has not been applied to the license itself, and the certificate does not have the 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.10.3.13 attribute.
I think the question is pretty identical to the following, however, I have not been able to find the answer:
https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/dynamics-365-unified-operations-public/issues/1490
I tried to test it using a self-signed certificate, like mentioned here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/dev-tools/isv-licensing
My tests seemed to conclude that:
- Instances where the licenses are already loaded are not impacted when the certificate expires..
- Still able to load licenses which was created with a now-expired certificate, as long as the CA is valid.
- Still able to generate new licenses and install them after the certificate has expired by setting the system date back.
However, these tests were not concluded in production, and did use self-signed certificates.
Thanks,
DFA
