Creating a Lookup Field from a Custom View

Posted on by 30

Question for CRM 2015 environment

I'm new to CRM.  I wanted to ask if I am missing something.  My previous counterpart created a Salesperon lookup field that is a custom view under Entity: Users>View “Salesperson lookup” who is no longer with the company and unreachable.  This is nothing more than a custom manually created list (see screenshot 1).  It shows up under Contract Lines as a lookup field (see screenshot 2, 3)  I do not see any javacode running on this level to change create the lookup, so it is based on the entity in the form (screenshot 4).  I’ve replicated these steps, and when I go to the lookup I do not see the list.  What am I missing?

Thank you for reaching out.  I believe that if the view is a "Personal View" you won't be able to add it into a lookup field on a form.  Another option you could do is to move "Reassign Records" from the user that is no longer with the company to someone else or a system account (remember if you do this ALL of the records will be moved that this user owned. Acct, Contacts, Personal views etc.).  Once this is done the new owner can make this view into a System View which you can control access via security role.  Then it should appear in your lookup field.

    Hi,

4th Screenshot select Salesperson view as default view instead of User Lookup View. Also set view selector off.

After doing above change on your lookup field properties publish your changes. You should see the result as expected,
